Installing 39 tons of steel and 2100kgs of fabric over an existing pristine Berry Bowling synthetic surface was certainly a challenge.
But thanks to the innovation of Trevor Scott from Light Weight Structures, Manly Bowls Club patrons in Queensland will be enjoying a cool, ambient weatherproof bowling environment each and every Christmas.
The installation of a wide span fabric canopy over an existing bowling green is an Australian first. This incredible feat was achieved with cranes and equipment located outside the bowling green and an innovative method of canopy manufacture and installation.
The project build time is also worthy of mention, the structure was built in four weeks, with the full process from concept to completion, including building approvals taking four and a half months.
Light Weight Structures can add the successful project outcome at Manly Bowls Club to other significant achievements including the design, engineering and installation of the award winning (2011) Mooloolaba Bowls Club canopy structure.
