Morwell Bowling Club Victoria (second roof)
Testimonial
After having the first roof constructed in 2014, Teena Johnson, General Manager of Morwell Bowling Club, says that the addition of the second roof was “definitely the way to go”.
“As a club, if we are going to offer bowls as a sport, we have to be able to provide the facilities to back up that offer. The roof over the greens certainly allows us to do that. It has been nothing but positive.”
The ultimate intention of having the first roof installed was to provide a sunsmart environment for patrons and guests.
“As well as meeting this objective, suddenly having the roof meant that we could provide bowls all year round, as well as at night,” Ms Johnson said.
“It has considerably broadened the scope of our offering as a club. We now work with schools and it is also being used for corporate events and meetings which culminate in bowls as a team building strategy. I think it has really positioned the club as a wonderful facility in our community.”
According to Ms Johnson, the decision to work with Lightweight Structures to add the second roof was “a no brainer”.
“Trevor and his team at Lightweight Structures are incredible to deal with,” she said.
“They take care of everything, from paperwork and applying for permits, to construction. Trevor is flexible and works around the operations of the club for minimal disruption. The turnaround time is simply outstanding.”
Morwell Bowling Club was the first Club in Victoria to have a Lightweight Structures roof built over their bowling green and initially, members were concerned about how it would affect their bowling experience.
“The doubts only lasted for a short time when our patrons realised that they were still outdoors, but under much more comfortable conditions. I think they are also extremely proud of the first class facility we now have.”
